MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION
Proper clothing allows the face to dominate the portrait.

Our suggestions for individuals:

  • Solid colors
  • Long or ¾ sleeves
  • Classic looks that are timeless

Our suggestions for groups:

  • Solid colors
  • Long or ¾ sleeves
  • Colors that look good together with similar shades
  • Infants and toddlers in a lighter shade will help them stand out
  • Choose colors that will complement the room where the portrait will hang
Have FUN during your sitting!
  • Bring in your sports stuff, favorite stuffed animal, musical instrument, shopping bags, sunglasses, your car, or even your best friend!
  • If you’re doing many outfits, make one of them something that really shows off your personal style!  It will help you remember the trends of your high school years and might even get a laugh out of your kids someday!

Try to avoid:
  • Too tight clothing
  • Stretchy button-up tops  (they gap when you sit down)
  • Tops with more than 5% spandex – the colors might be distorted in your photograph
  • Bold stripes, plaids, and prints do not photograph well. Short sleeves can distract from the face.
